The R1 site is located in the Water Archipelago. The Water Archipelago’s unique characteristic is its location on the waterfront. The water archipelago’s underlying urban structure is formed by the maximization of views for the residential complex along the water. The residential complex takes advantage of its unique position next to the Han River Park and is situated to make use of the waterfront retail and recreation.
The site for the R1 residential development demands that the buildings be designed as an icon on the Han River for the entire Yongsan Business District. The design also had to be envisioned as a composition of three towers, not singular tower designs situated on one site. Due to the density of the block, a great emphasis had to be placed on maximizing views, light, air and orientation for each of the towers to take advantage of the beautiful location and surrounding vistas while creating a pleasant living experience for all the residents and the surrounding buildings.
