Gwangju Veterans Hospital aspires to be a ‘human-centered hospital for the next millennium equipped’ with 500 beds and state-of-the art medical facilities on a site covering 33,000 square meters. A “growing hospital” concept has been adopted to provide variability so that it may address future changes in a flexible manner. The additional concept of a ‘hospital in a natural environment’ was adopted to provide the best healing environment. The hospital was also designed with an easily recognizable spatial layout and an efficient management and operation system by introducing advanced equipment and appliances to enhance service efficiency.
