Riyadh North, an area of 8,000,000㎡ is a new town development master plan project in Northern area of Riyadh, the capital of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The main concept to develop Riyadh North will be Aqua Green city which aims to create the harmony between nature and built environment. In addition, this concept is supported by three sub-concepts: Livable, Sustainable and Intelligent city, in order to satisfy proposed sustainable development of the site. As an Aqua Green city, daily life in Riyadh North is formed around the pleasing waterscape created by two Ponds, Grand Canal and Water Parks which fully take advantage of plenty of valuable water sources around the site. Riyadh North’s intent to become ‘Aqua Green City’ will be perfectly supported by the concept of livable city. The city with diversified natural space, such as palm tree belt, a number of park and green axes, will provide pleasant and healthy environment to residents. The concept of sustainability city will be operational factor to complete the main concept.
Riyadh North will be fully self-sufficient in terms of energy use with solar energy and water recycling, but also waste collection system aimed to produce no waste in the city. In addition, the residents of the city will benefit from intelligent urban system. Residents will experience the highest level of convenience and security through home automation. In the city level, intelligent building system and U-management which monitors and controls the status of waste, energy, water, and light will be applied.
